User Authorization Access to Systems

One measure of system security is the creation of User Accounts, authorizing employees to access information technology resources. A further step is to define what each user can or cannot do with that access. When an employee joins, or leaves, the government service, Head of Departments are encouraged to actively participate in this very important process, by clearly outlining the access that each employee should have based on that person's role in the organization.

Step 1:  An authorized Senior Officer or Head of Department must complete and submit a User Access Authorization form to request access to, or termination from, standard and supported systems, on behalf of an employee.

Step 2:  Once the request has been approved, it will be processed and the employee will get a call from a DoIT officer, advising of the status, User ID and default Password.

Step 3:  Immediately change all default passwords given, and maintain a high level of security by observing all security best practices and protocols as outlined in the Computer and Internet Usage Policy document.

Step 4:  Contact the Department of Information Technology for all User Account and related issues.
