The Government of the Virgin Islands has signed a contract for a feasibility study to develop a sustainable and modern landfill that contributes to a responsible and circular management of waste within the Virgin Islands.

Mister Speaker, in May 2021, I provided an update on the repairs and upgrades to the Territory’s nine (9) community centres to this Honorable House. I will now provide new information on the progress that has been made since that time and especially in light of the hurricane season that is now in effect.

​The Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) in the British Virgin Islands was established to implement the Government’s recovery plan following the devastating effects of Hurricane Irma in 2017.

The Government of Virgin Islands (GOVI) has received financing from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) in an amount equivalent to US$65,291,000 towards the cost of CDB No. 12/SFR-OR-BVI: Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Loan – Hurricane Irma Project and intends to apply a portion of the proceeds of this financing to eligible payments under a contract for which this invitation is issued.

Construction work on The Bregado Flax Educational Centre - Secondary Division and the Ivan Dawson Primary School are said to be nearing completion.
