Over 35 of the Territory’s students studying in the United Kingdom gathered at BVI House where they were encouraged to be ambassadors for the British Virgin Islands in the United Kingdom.

Virgin Islanders, ladies and gentlemen, as your Governor I wanted to speak to you today about an important issue.
But before doing so, I also wanted to mention that as many of you will know; last week I had an audience with Her Majesty the Queen at Buckingham Palace. Her Majesty was pleased to receive the gift of salt from Salt Island prepared by Calvin “Jandy” Smith and Lethelma Thomas. Her Majesty takes a keen interest in all her Overseas Territories and it was an opportunity to recall the Islanders’ willingness to help others that so impressed Queen Victoria, a tradition that continues today through the many Virgin Islands groups such as the Rotary Clubs, Lions, Family Support Network, Visar and many others.

As part of its ongoing efforts to promote the Territory’s investment strategy, the Government of the Virgin Islands has revitalised the Road Town Market Square and will host a re-launching event on Friday, March 13, at 4:00 p.m.

The Government of the Virgin Islands is inviting the BVI community to the re-launch of the Road Town Market Square on Friday March 13 at 4:00 p.m. The evening promises to be filled with entertainment, refreshments and a stroll down memory lane.

Scenes from Commonwealth Day 2015 celebrated on Monday, March 11 where the Office of the Deputy Governor hosted the Territory’s inaugural celebration for the Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth Initiative. Ten year old Jaleel Cameron hoisted the Commonwealth Flag and raised over $1000 at the ceremony to donate to the Children’s Unit at the new Peebles Hospital. To date, he has raised over $6,000 which he plans to present to the hospital by the end of this month.

Twenty three local women who have made tremendous contributions in the fields of politics, law, medicine, business, community development, education, social work, communications, sports, culture and entertainment were honoured at a ceremony held in their honour on March 5.
