The Family Health Unit of the Ministry of Health and Social Development continues to offer free condoms and HIV testing at their new location on the second floor of the old Peeble’s Hospital.

Residents are asked to safeguard their health and protect themselves from food and waterborne illnesses by practicing good personal hygiene.

Residents of the Virgin Islands, there is a well-known saying that ‘tough times don’t last, tough people do’. The British Virgin Islands (BVI) and European Union (EU) have discussed the EU’s support for the Territory in the aftermath of Hurricanes Irma and Maria in the margins of the Annual World Bank/IMF meetings in Washington, DC.

Residents are urged to be vigilant and avoid leptospirosis amid concerns in the region and prime conditions locally for its transmission.

Chief Executive Officer at the BVI Health Services Authority, Mrs. Paula Chester-Cumberbatch has announced that weekly immunization services have resumed.

The public is advised that officers from the Environmental Health Division will be visiting communities, beginning with Carrot Bay to conduct assessments to capture vital information that will determine the health status of the Territory.

The new food handler’s session scheduled for Thursday September 7 is cancelled as a result of the impending hurricane.  

Residents of Virgin Gorda are urged to practice good hygiene to minimise the spread of conjunctivitis as thirty four cases of the infection have been recorded on the island.
