Five young Virgin Islanders are set to proudly raise the Territory's flag on the global stage as they compete in the 2025 FIRST Global Challenge in Panama City from October 29 to November 1. This year's team — Eleazar Brooks, Keyara Smith, Jayron Gibson, Judiah Case, and Denae Scatliffe-Chalwell will compete with their robot, Artemis, marking the Virgin Islands' third consecutive year on the international robotics stage. Since their debut in Singapore in 2023, followed by Greece in 2024, the team has steadily climbed the global rankings, moving from 143rd out of 191 to 111th out of 180 teams worldwide.

Premier Dr. Hon. Natalio D. Wheatley announced the publication of the UN Special Committee on Decolonization’s report following its visit to the British Virgin Islands in August 2024. The report assesses the Territory's decolonization progress and recommends implementing an education program on independence, establishing an independence timetable, engaging in talks with the UK, and considering a referendum on independence. The report will be debated in the House of Assembly and the government will host a public forum for views. The report is available on the Government’s website.

Premier Dr. Natalio Wheatley will lead a delegation to Hong Kong, Macau, and Malaysia in February. The visit aims to strengthen relationships and promote the BVI’s financial services industry in the Asia-Pacific region. The delegation will also visit partner universities in the BVI’s Asia Abroad Programme and meet with university chancellors to discuss educational opportunities. The BVI’s post-COVID-19 strategy focuses on diversifying markets, products, and services in the region.
