Minister Vincent O. Wheatley officially opened Senior Citizen’s Month 2025, celebrating the theme “Flip the Script on Aging”. He urged the public to embrace aging as a time of wisdom and value, not decline. He honoured the Territory’s eight centenarians and praised seniors for their contributions to society. Key announcements included an increase in the centenarian grant (from $5,000 to $10,000) and a raise in monthly public assistance grants for seniors to $506.25. The month will feature activities to celebrate and engage seniors, promote intergenerational unity, and challenge ageism. Minister Wheatley expressed deep gratitude to caregivers, families, and partners supporting the elderly, calling for continued respect, support, and recognition of seniors across the Virgin Islands.

Premier Dr. Natalio D. Wheatley will be on official duty travel from June 8 to 20, attending high-level meetings abroad. He will participate in the C-24 Conference on decolonisation in New York (June 8–10), the Caribbean Development Bank Heads of Government Conference in Brazil (June 11–14), and the OECS Authority meeting in St. Vincent and the Grenadines (June 16–20), focusing on regional integration and economic resilience. During his absence, Minister Kye Rymer will act as Premier from June 8 to 14, as both the Premier and Deputy Premier Julian Fraser (also on duty travel from June 7 to 15) will be abroad. The Government remains committed to strengthening the Territory through international and regional cooperation.

The public is notified that road works will begin in Sea Cow’s Bay on Monday 23rd March 2026. The road works include the reconstruction of sidewalks and the construction of new slipper drains and curb walls. The scope also includes the complete demolition of the existing concrete and asphalt road surface, excavation works and the supply and compaction of new subbase and base material.
