Mandatory Declaration of Weight in Field 17 of the Customs Trade Declaration Form
Effective 1 December 2025, H.M. Customs will enforce the mandatory requirement to declare the weight of goods in Field 17 of the Customs Trade Declaration Form. This measure supports enhanced data collection to strengthen trade monitoring, policy development, and compliance oversight. Declarations submitted without weight information will be deemed incomplete and will not be processed. 2026 Speech From the Throne: Legislative Pillars of Success, Building a Sustainable Nation
As Governor of these Virgin Islands, I am pleased to be here today to perform my constitutional responsibilities on behalf of His Majesty King Charles III in delivering the Speech from the Throne. The Speech from the Throne is a tradition in the Commonwealth and Overseas Territories. It is written by the Government and delivered by the Head of State, or his or her Representative. The Speech from the Throne signals the opening of a new Session of the Legislature and previews the legislative agenda and major policies of the elected Government, as it seeks to achieve its objectives and responsibilities to the people during the upcoming Session of the House of Assembly.

Wheatley, Minister for Health and Social Development, spoke at the Multi-Agreement Signing Ceremony for the BVI Health Services Authority’s infrastructure improvement projects on February 10, 2025. He emphasized the importance of the partnership between the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) and the Virgin Islands Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) in making critical repairs and upgrades to health facilities. These improvements, particularly to the Dr. D. Orlando Smith Hospital, Major Peebles Wing, and the Annex, aim to enhance healthcare service delivery, improve standards of care, and maintain hospital accreditation. Proposals Needed For 360 And 1100 Litre Heavy Duty Bins
The Department of Waste Management is accepting quotations for 100 heavy-duty 360-litre residential wheeled trashcans and 30 heavy-duty 1100-litre wheeled dumpsters. The bins must be made from high-density polyethylene, resistant to chemicals, heat, UV rays, and extreme temperatures, and meet specific standards (DIN EN 840 and RAL GZ 951/1). The 1100-litre dumpsters must be compatible with DIN lifting devices, feature reinforced lifting trunnions, and have a 2-inch water drain with a locking plug. Interested businesses must submit their quotations by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, 28 March 2025, including a quotation, pictures, product specifications, and required certifications.
