The Virgin Islands will host the Caribbean Electric Utility Services Corporation (CARILEC) 2025 Lineworkers Symposium and Rodeo for the first time next weekend. The three-day event will bring together 33 skilled utility professionals from across the Caribbean to showcase their technical abilities and safety practices. The opening ceremony, set for April 25 at Eileen Parsons Auditorium, will feature remarks from government officials and cultural performances. A March Pass and Rodeo opening ceremony will follow on Sunday. The BVI will be represented by both senior and junior teams, including past competition winners. Held under the theme “Informed. Empowered. Safe.”, the event highlights the Territory’s dedication to improving infrastructure and regional collaboration.

The Government of the Virgin Islands signed what it said to be, its largest contract in history with Tortola Paving Company Limited to pave nine (9) miles of road from the Road Town Ferry Terminal to the West End Ferry Terminal. The contract was signed on Tuesday December 23 in the amount of fourteen million, eighty-eight thousand, six hundred and twenty dollars and two cents ($14,088,620.02).

Governor Daniel Pruce is inviting public feedback on the Commission of Inquiry (COI) reforms, which will be reported to UK Overseas Territories Minister Stephen Doughty MP to guide future decisions. A public survey and dedicated mailbox have been set up for this purpose, with a deadline of March 2nd. Governor Pruce encouraged the public to share their views and experiences. The survey is brief, and general comments can be emailed to bvicoi@fcdo.gov.uk. All feedback will be treated anonymously and sensitively.
