The Ministry of Environment Natural Resources and Climate Change invites applications for the position of Member of the Crown Lands Advisory Board, as established under the Crown Lands Management Act, 2024.
The available position is for One person – one representative from the island of Jost Van Dyke.
The key responsibilities of the successful applicant will be to carry out the functions of the Board under subsection (1) shall (a) act at all times in a transparent, accountable and responsible manner when dealing with the disposal of Crown Lands.
The successful applicant will also be expected to make recommendations on the cultural and historical nuances of each island and region in the Territory regarding the disposal of Crown Lands. This is subject to the recommendations of Standing Committees.
The prospective, members must posses the minimum qualifications of a Bachelor’s Degree, be trustworthy and confidential, be able to make sound, fair and equitable decisions. Possess personal qualities of high integrity and credibility, among other qualifications.
The person selected as a Board member shall be a Virgin Islander; a person deemed to belong to the Virgin Islands under section 2(2)(f) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007, U.K.S.I. 2007 No. 1678 who has held his or her certificate for a period of 20 years or more. The applicant should also be a person deemed to belong to the Virgin Islands under section 2(2)(h) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007, U.K.S.I. 2007 No. 1678.
A member of the Board shall hold office for a period not exceeding 3 years but is eligible for re-appointment for an additional 3-year term on the expiration of his or her term of office.
Appointment of non-government members shall be staggered to ensure that no more than two nongovernment representatives are re-appointed in any calendar year.
The post is stipend-based on remuneration.
