Purpose of the Consultative Meetings

The consultative meetings were convened to:

  • Collect stakeholder-led recommendations to inform national tourism policy
  • Ensure inclusive participation across islands, sectors, and age groups
  • Validate and refine priorities identified during earlier OECS consultations and the Tourism Summit
  • Ground policy development in local realities, evidence, and lived experience

The process was led by the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sustainable Development and aligned with the OECS Common Sustainable Tourism Policy Framework and the National Sustainable Development Plan.

How the Consultations Were Structured

The consultation process combined:

  • Island-based community meetings (e.g. Virgin Gorda, Anegada, West End)
  • Sector-specific sessions, including:
    • Blue Economy, Marine & Yachting Tourism
    • Food, Culinary, Culture and Cultural Heritage

  • Youth engagement sessions with senior secondary students
  • Public service consultations through the VI Public Sector Learning Institute

Each meeting followed a consistent format: policy framing, open discussion, documented minutes, and synthesis of key takeaways.
