Purpose of the Tourism Summit

Body

The Summit was convened to:

  • Assess the current state of the Virgin Islands tourism sector
  • Identify challenges and opportunities for sustainable growth
  • Strengthen public–private collaboration
  • Align national priorities with regional and global tourism trends
  • Inform policy, legislation, and investment strategies

The Summit built directly on the OECS Regional Tourism Policy Consultations (2024) and served as a key milestone toward finalising the National Tourism Policy.

The Tourism Summit produced clear direction to:

  • Finalise and implement the National Tourism Policy
  • Develop supporting legislation, including a Tourism Act and Events legislation
  • Strengthen data collection and use for decision-making
  • Improve coordination across government and industry
  • Shift focus toward quality, value, and sustainability rather than volume

These outcomes will guide tourism planning and investment over the coming decade.
