HONOURABLE VINCENT WHEATLEY
MOTHER’S DAY MESSAGE
MAY 10, 2020

"Mothers are like glue. Even when you can't see them, they're still holding the family together." Today, Sunday, May 10 is the day the whole world pauses to celebrate and show appreciation to all mothers.

Often time we forget about the vital role mothers play in the family and in the wider community.

They give birth, feed, clothe, teach, nurse, nurture, train, motivate and support their own children and often those of relatives, friends and neighbours.

As a child growing up, I was taught to show respect to all adults, mostly by my mother, Mrs. Esme Wheatley. So today, I salute you mom, special happy Mother’s Day to you.

I especially remember the mothers in my neighborhood nurturing me and guiding me along.

Memories of their love and care still linger on, even after all these years. Mothers like the late Mrs. Ilva Walters, Mrs. Norma Flax, Mrs. Nidia George just to name a few.

Mothers who celebrate your victories and encourage you during times of difficulty, mothers who defend and stand up for you, no matter what.

Mothers have a special ability to hold their family together, even in the toughest of times.

I am reminded of the tireless love of mothers in this challenging time, most mothers may struggle with providing for their children as well as dealing with online learning.

I can understand the desire of mothers to go back to work so they can afford to give their children what they need to succeed.

It is still a puzzle to me how a mother can wake up in the morning, cook breakfast, prepare lunch, get her children ready for school and then go to work for eight hours.

It is obvious to me that without mothers, life would be impossible.

We all need that special glue in our lives.

Toay I salute all mothers! Especially My wife Esther
