Rehabilitation work on Lee Road, Virgin Gorda is said to be ahead of schedule.

Assistant Secretary for the Ministry of Communications and Works, Ms. Haley Trott said that contractually, the Caribbean Development Bank loan-funded project is expected to be finished by early June. However the contractors Creative Builders Ltd. will have the road reinstated by April.

Managing Director for Creative Builders Ltd., Mr. Anselmo Stevens said the road will be paved with concrete by April. This he added will allow for the Easter festivities to continue after which the road will then be paved with asphalt; fences will be replaced and other cosmetic installations will be done to complete the project.

Mr. Stevens said several strategies allowed the project to perform ahead of schedule including casting concrete box drains offsite. This he said reduced congestion on the main road and eliminated issues that could have delayed the project.

Representatives from the Ministry of Communications and Works, Creative Builders Ltd. and Little Dix Bay Resort who are continuing upgrades, met on Friday, February 3, to discuss tactics on executing works simultaneously.

Ground work for this project will continue on Tuesday, February 7 from the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Virgin Gorda Station to Chez Bamboo Restaurant.

Motorists are advised to exercise caution and follow all traffic signs in the area.
