Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie said that 32.73 percent of the development budget has been allocated to the Ministry of Transportation, Works and Utilities as Government focusses on major construction projects to stimulate economic activity and create jobs during this COVID-19 period.

The Premier while delivering the 2022 Budget Address added that a total of $12.4 million has been allocated for the continued improvement of the Territory’s infrastructure. Some of the infrastructure development projects highlighted in the address include but are not limited to:

• The East End/Long Look Sewerage Project;
• The Cane Garden Bay Sewerage Project;
• The Road Town Sewerage Project;
• Continuation of works on the Ralph T. O’Neal Administration Complex;
• The Road Town Improvement Project;
• Reservoir Repairs, to include the improvement of the water network;
• Improvement of the road network;
• Civil works across the nine districts;
• Construction of the Frenchman’s Cay Bridge;
• Revetment and development works on the North Coast and;
• Carrot Bay and Cane Garden Bay roads to reduce the impact of storm surges.

Premier Fahie said, “In Windy Hill, Tortola, and on East Bound Road and Jumper Road on Jost Van Dyke, for instance, curb walls will be installed.  Remedial works will also be done on the Great Harbour Road on Jost Van Dyke and at the Valley on Virgin Gorda.”
