The Government of the Virgin Islands is seeking a qualified individual to fill the following position:
Chairman, Labour Arbitration Tribunal
ABOUT THE TRIBUNAL
The Tribunal is an independent tribunal set up under the Labour Code, 2010. It has power to make orders and awards with the same force as an order or award of the High Court. Persons/parties appearing before the Tribunal are entitled to the same rights of privileges as they would before any court.
Case management hearings are conducted by the Chairperson sitting alone, while all other hearings are conducted by a full panel, which consists of the Chairperson and two
(2) accredited Labour Arbitrators.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
The key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Conduct hearings and trials
- Draft orders and judgments
- Render decisions
- Issue Witness Summons; and
- Perform such other related functions as necessary.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ideal Candidates Should Embody the following Qualities:
- Tribunal’s objectives
- Be trustworthy and confidential
- Be able to make legally -sound, fair and equitable decisions
- Possess personal qualities of high integrity and credibility
TERMS OF SERVICE
Chairperson shall serve for a period of two
(2) years.

- A cover letter which demonstrates the candidate’s fitness for Chairman of the Labour Arbitration Tribunal.
