Press Release
The preliminary designs for the restoration of the Virgin Gorda Administration Complex, Vanterpool and Flax buildings have been presented to Government officials.
The initial designs were shared with senior officers from the Projects Unit and the Deputy Governor’s Office during a showcase hosted by the Ministry of Finance last week.
Architect and Project Manager, Mr. Ronnie Lettsome of Trojan Design and Development Ltd. made a presentation on the preliminary design, which provided an opportunity for stakeholders to ask questions and engage in discussions.
Director of Projects in the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Drexel Glasgow, said he was encouraged by the level of turnout and engagement from the office occupants who will be the end users.
Dr. Glasgow added, “Although the intent of this project is to restore the functionality of the offices using the Complex, we have taken the opportunity to include SMART and green principles and to build on the resilience of offices.”
Mr. Lettsome said that he was very pleased with the level of feedback from the participants and stated that the information will be used to produce Design #2, which will be shared with the relevant planning agencies for approval.
The Deputy Governor’s Office has made the restoration of the complex a priority to allow for comfortable working spaces for staff and to re-establish full services offered by the departments in the complex. The project is being funded under the Caribbean Development Bank Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Loan.
