The Government of the Virgin Islands (GOVI) has received financing from the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) in an amount equivalent to US$65,291,000 towards the cost of the CDB No. 12/SRF-OR-BVI: Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Loan – Hurricane Irma Project (the Project) and intends to apply a portion of the proceeds to eligible payments under this contract.

Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Dr. Natalio Wheatley has stated that the historic consultation meeting with the Caribbean Development Bank (CDB) last month has brought attention to the specific circumstances and needs of Overseas Territories.

Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Dr. Natalio Wheatley will be attending the 73rd Meeting of the OECS Authority in St. Kitts from June 18 to 19, and the 53rd CDB Annual Heads of Government Meeting in St. Lucia from June 20 to 21.

Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley has met with officials of the Caribbean Development Bank as the Government of the Virgin Islands moves to strengthen its relationship with the lending institution.

Officers from around the public sector and leaders from the Territory’s community-based groups have received training on best practices when applying for grant opportunities.

Mister Speaker, I rise to update this Honourable House and the citizens of the Virgin Islands on the progress being made with my ministerial portfolio. The Ministry of Transportation, Works and Utilities (MTWU) continues to forge ahead towards the improvement of infrastructure and utilities of our beloved Virgin Islands.

The Government of the Virgin Islands is inviting tenders for the Great Mountain Site 1 – Road Rehabilitation and Slope Stabilisation Project as it continues to develop the Territory’s infrastructure.

The preliminary designs for the restoration of the Virgin Gorda Administration Complex, Vanterpool and Flax buildings have been presented to Government officials.

The business of running a country never stops and today, in this season, I am glad to be here to continue the work we have started as a Government, to ensure that, among other areas, our road network is maintained and upgraded for the safety of every resident and visitor to these islands.
