Turtle conservation in the Virgin Islands will receive support through the launch of a film and an online survey by the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries in conjunction with the Marine Conservation Society.

Forty-five (45) persons have been trained for the Registration Apprenticeship Training Employment and Development (RATED) programme designed to foster competitiveness in the labour market and to promote career development.
Displays from the exhibition and market days held on March 19 and March 20 are featured from this year’s Farmers and Fishers’ Week on the Farm Grounds in Paraquita Bay. In addition, a panel discussion featuring stakeholders in the agricultural and fisheries sectors was organised to promote capacity building in these areas. Two of this year’s honourees from Tortola are farmer Mr.
Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley has said that it is critical to increasing sustainable access to water and coordinated initiatives toward financing the management of the resource are essential for the overall development of the Virgin Islands.
The public is advised that the revised dates for Farmers and Fishers’ week 2023, are 18th to 23rd March under the theme, “Building the Third Pillar of the Economy”.
Director of Agriculture and Fisheries, Theodore James, has said this year’s Farmers and Fishers’ week celebrates the integral role of farmers and fishers and their involvement in the expansion of a prosperous, thriving and internationally competitive economy.
