United Kingdom (UK) Foreign Office Minister for the Overseas Territories, Lord Ahmad of Wimbledon, has said that it was a humble honour to be present in the Territory.
Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources Labour, Dr. the Honourable Kedrick Pickering has concluded ministerial meetings between the Overseas Territories (OT) and United Kingdom (UK) on Brexit.
The Premier will attend meetings in Beijing this week to promote the interests of the British Virgin Islands and has asked the Deputy Premier to stand in for high level political meetings in the UK.
The House of Lords earlier today debated the validity of a House of Commons amendment to require public central registers of beneficial ownership in the Overseas Territories (OT) during their Consideration of Commons Amendments to the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Bill.
The Premier of the British Virgin Islands (BVI), Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE, and the Leader of the Opposition, Honourable Andrew Fahie, have called on the United Kingdom (UK) Government and Parliament to respect the Virgin Islands Constitution ahead of the House of Lords consideration of the Sanctions and Anti-Money Laundering Bill on May 21 and its provisions on public central registers of beneficial ownership in the Overseas Territories.
Ms. Elise Donovan, Director of BVI House Asia, has met with the new Director General of Shenzhen Foreign Affairs Office, Ms. Cai Ying; Deputy Director General, Mr. Yao Weizhi; and Director of Protocol Division, Ms. Claire Xie today in Civic Center, Shenzhen.
