The public is reminded that permission must be sought from the Ministry of Natural Resources and Labour to conduct certain events on the Territory’s beaches.

Visitors, owners, managers, operators, skippers and masters of all vessels are asked to adhere to the flag system while visiting beaches throughout the Territory.

The public is invited to submit suggestions and feedback on the proposal for a portion of Long Bay, Beef Island to become a marine park and protected area.

A section of Long Bay, Beef Island is earmarked to become a Protected Area and Marine Park in accordance with the National Parks Act, 2006 s. 15(b).

The J. R. O’Neal Botanical Garden was re-opened as part of Arbour Day celebrations on Friday, November 30.

Acting Director for the National Parks Trust of The Virgin Islands (NPTVI), Ms. Lynda Varlack, reassures that despite the devastation caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria, the National Parks and Protected Areas of The Virgin Islands are ready to receive guests.

Residents of the Virgin Islands are advised that clean-up is still ongoing at the Queen Elizabeth II Children’s Playground due to damages sustained by the tropical wave on August 7.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Natural Resources and Labour, Dr. the Honourable Kedrick Pickering highlighted the British Virgin Islands’ (BVI) receipt of a ‘BEST’ grant to assist in the preservation of the Great Tobago National Park while attending the World Conservation Congress in Hawaii, at the beginning of the month.

The public is reminded that in accordance with the National Parks Trust Act of 2006, it is illegal to remove plants from national parks, including the Queen Elizabeth II Park.
