Residents who have experienced service interruption to their water supply from the Fort Hill and Sabbath Hill Reservoir are informed that the disruption was due to technical issues caused by electrical surges at the Biwater Plant.

The Public Service Week Steering Committee is informing public officers and the wider community that complimentary sea and ground transportation will be provided for the Opening Ceremony and Church Service on Virgin Gorda, Sunday, May 24.

Public officers and the BVI community are invited to take part in activities for Public Service Week 2015 being celebrated from May 24 to June 1.  The week begins with a church service at the Virgin Gorda Assembly of God at 3:00 p.m. Speedy’s Ferry will depart Road Town at 2:00 p.m. and will offer a reduced fare. Persons are encouraged to note the following schedule for the week of activities:

Public Officers are preparing to celebrate Public Service Week 2015 from May 24 to June 1.

The week, which is held annually, will see government ministries, departments and statutory bodies competing in various activities and sporting events.

The Department of Human Resources is informing public officers on Jost Van Dyke that a team consisting of members of the Public Service Excellence Award Steering Committee will be visiting Jost Van Dyke on Tuesday, 28 April.

The team will meet with officers in their respective departments to further educate them about the award programme, which is designed to recognise high performers and improve employee morale in the Public Service. The aim is also to arouse their interest in the nomination process.

The Public Service of the Virgin Islands has charted a course to transform its operations following a series of strategic planning days.

Permanent Secretaries, constitutional and department heads, and senior officials participated in the sessions designed to develop and align the ministerial strategic priorities and the 2015 objectives with the outcome of delivering a high performing public sector.

Leaders across Government have been urged to empower and motivate their teams.

His Excellency the Governor, Mr. John S. Duncan, OBE, in an address at the launch of the Department of Human Resources Public Service Excellence Award programme earlier this week, encouraged team managers to effectively lead and manage their teams.

Today marks the beginning of Public Service Excellence Award initiative. This programme is a new and improved form of what was known as the Employee of the Quarter Award.

Public officers now have a new recognition programme to improve employee morale and award exceptional performance across all levels.
