New protocols implemented by the Department of Waste Management have led to early notification and action to address smoke and fire at the Virgin Gorda Landfill.
The Department of Waste Management is accepting quotations for the removal of waste materials from the temporary derelict storage site at Pockwood Pond to the dumpsite at the Incinerator hillside.

The Ministry of Communication and Works is making moves to recommission and upgrade the previously inoperable waste water treatment plant at Burt Point.
In his statement at the Second Sitting of the First Session of the Fifth House of Assembly, Minister for Communication and Works Honourable Kye M. Rymer said that recommissioning the waste water treatment plant is a priority for his ministry due to the fact that the inoperable facility currently poses a threat to the marine environment.
Premier of the Virgin Islands, Dr. the Honourable Natalio Wheatley is urging the people of the Territory to do their part to protect the environment by reducing the use of plastics and engage in recycling.
