Residents of the Anegada community are notified that the Minister for Education and Culture, Honourable Myron V. Walwyn will hold office hours on the sister island on Friday, January 22.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed with telecommunication providers, LIME and Digicel to provide internet access to all public schools within the Territory.

The evolution of our society has always hinged on improved technology.  The development of the printing press allowed more people, centuries ago, to learn to read, to become independent thinkers. Those books and pamphlets instead of being handwritten were printed for the masses and inspired revolutions that advanced our society. 

Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE is encouraging officials working in the education and culture sectors to be good educational stewards, and create innovative learning environments that motivate students to think critically, collaborate effectively, lead efficiently and be competitive.

Let me first take this time to wish one and all a very happy new year. My prayer for you in 2016 is that the Lord continues to bless your lives, and for all of us in this Territory to work collectively to advance, what I believe is the greatest place to call home, the Virgin Islands.

The Family Support Network (FSN), the British Virgin Islands’ non-governmental organisation working to fight domestic violence, received a donation of supplies last month courtesy the Jost Van Dyke School.

The Ministry of Education and Culture is informing the public that the date to commence submission of admission applications for the 2016-2017 school year is Monday, January 18, 2016.  

The Ministry of Education and Culture is reminding the public that all public schools in the Territory will reopen for the 2016 Lent Term on Monday, January 4, 2016 and is advised that classes resume at the regularly scheduled time on that date.
