The Government of the Virgin Islands is reminding employers to submit detailed information on persons they employed under the 1000 Jobs in 1000 Days Programme to be eligible for the 10 percent compensation of the total salaries paid.
Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration Honourable Vincent Wheatley has said that the lay-off period for employees has been extended a further three months until January 31 next year.
As Minister for Labour, I took before the House of Assembly the Labour Code (Amendment) Act, 2020, on the 11th June, 2020 which extended the lay-off period from three months in total to a period not to exceed 31st October, 2020.

Mister Speaker, as the Minister for Natural Resources, Labour and Immigration, I have responsibility for the appointment of a Tribunal under the Labour Code, 2010 (No. 4 of 2010) as part of the mechanism for the settlement of labour disputes.
The public is notified that the Department of Labour and Workforce Development's Labour Relations Unit (Dispute Unit) will be holding all dispute meetings via Zoom and WebEx until further notice.
Persons who had scheduled appointments with the Department of Labour and Workforce Development prior to the recent curfew order can now contact the department to have them rescheduled.
Phase 2 of the Restricted Border Reopening Plan is in effect as of September 1. The following categories of persons sited in Phase 1 and Phase 2 can now register to return to the British Virgin Islands by visiting www.bvitravel.vg.
