Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley has voiced his support for rehabilitation initiatives at His Majesty’s Prison.

His Majesty’s Customs is observing its 2024 Customs Week from January 21 to 27. 

Thirteen prisoners at His Majesty's Prison received completion certificates for successfully navigating a Skills of Life Programme.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development is requesting bids for the proposed Kitchen Renovation at His Majesty’s Prison in Balsam Ghut, Tortola. The proposed works comprise providing all plant, labour, equipment, materials, personnel staff and all operations in connection with the proposed renovations.

Earlier this month, HMP Balsam Gut welcomed Ms. Laura Mitcheson (Head of Tactical Response, His Majesty’s Prison & Probation Service).

 Mr. Jay Kendall has been appointed Superintendent of Prisons, effective 30th October, 2023.

UK Minister Mike Freer MP, from the Ministry of Justice, visited the BVI between Sunday 5 to Tuesday 7 November. The purpose of the visit was for the Minister to see first-hand the opportunities and challenges in the BVI justice system, and to identify areas for further partnership with the UK

His Majesty’s Prison is the recipient of a new vehicle courtesy of the Ministry of Health and Social Development.

The public is notified that in-person visitation to Her Majesty’s Prison has resumed.

The Ministry of Health and Social Development is advising the public that in-person visitation to Her Majesty’s Prison will resume on Tuesday, May 3.
