Premier and Minister of Finance Dr. the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley has welcomed assistance from the United Kingdom (UK) and Caribbean region in in building the Virgin Islands into a model democracy.

Today, Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable A. Fahie served as the keynote speaker addressing policymakers and leading experts in the fields of sustainable finance and development during the Island Finance Forum 2022.  

Good afternoon and God’s blessings to all. I would like to begin by thanking Island Innovation for the very kind invitation to participate in the Island Finance Forum 2022 and to deliver the keynote address of this panel on equitable recovery for island communities.

In my statement of 5 April on the Commission of Inquiry (COI) Report I said I would provide a further update after Easter.

The Government of the Virgin Islands has established a national local project office as it collaborates with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to achieve development objectives and the Sustainable Development Goals.  

Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew A. Fahie has applauded the outstanding contribution of Ms. Alicia Barcena to the advancement of Latin America and the Caribbean during her tenure as Executive Secretary of the United Nations (UN) Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), which ended on 31^st March 2022.

On the invitation of the Speaker of the House of Commons the Rt. Honourable Sir Lindsay Hoyle, a delegation from the House of Assembly (HoA) of the Virgin Islands (VI) visited the United Kingdom Parliament to engage in the interactive capacity building via a fact-finding mission from March 21 to 24, 2022.

Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew A. Fahie has lauded the response of the United Kingdom and Overseas Territories to the Ukraine crisis at bilateral talks in the Territory with Overseas Territories Minister The Right Honourable Amanda Milling on 18^th March 2022.
