Earlier today, I chaired the disaster management operations group, which brings together all of the agencies and departments here in the Virgin Islands to help us prepare for a severe weather event.
Good day to all residents and visitors in the Virgin Islands.
As you will know by now, we are currently on a hurricane watch as well as the previously issued tropical storm warning in relation to Tropical Storm Ernesto.
The Virgin Islands is currently under a hurricane watch in association with Tropical Storm Ernesto, which means that hurricane conditions are possible in our area within the next 12 hours.
The Department of Solid Waste Management is stepping up its hurricane preparedness clean up and is inviting households to place their bulky waste next to community bins for collection during the evening between 5:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
Once again, the hurricane season is here. Some of you may have heard that experts expect as many as 25 named storms to develop during the 2024 hurricane season.
