Minister for Communications and Works Honourable Kye Rymer led a delegation through several areas of Road Town to assess the drainage situation ahead of Tropical Storm Tammy.

Officers from the Department of Disaster Management (DDM) are hosting community preparedness meetings on the sister islands to improve community-based resilience.

The goal of International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction is to raise awareness about the dangers of disasters and encourage individuals and governments to do their part to ensure that everyone can prepare for, respond to, and recover after an impact.

The public is asked to report any road blockage, undermined roads and blocked ghuts across the Territory to Public Works Department.

The public is advised that with the conclusion of the Territory’s flood warning at 5:00 p.m., the National Emergency Operations Centre is deactivated.

The public is notified that following the all-clear from His Excellency, the Governor John J. Rankin, CMG and the completion of damage assessments, Government offices will resume normal operations tomorrow, October 5, 2023 at 8:30 am.

And of course I have also been in regular touch with the Acting Premier.
